As an immediate relief measure, the Tain District Assembly has donated twenty bags of rice to flood victims at Bui and Akanyakrom-Bator in the Tain District of the Brong-Ahafo Region.

Presenting the items to the 27 farmers, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Hon Jones Samuel Tawiah, said the district’s quick intervention was to mitigate hardship in the two affected communities.

"We understand your situation, particularly, as most of the farms flooded are food crop farms," adding that the district was in the process of finding more assistance for the victims.

The DCE entreated communities along the river to heed to the Bui Power Authority’s (BPA) security signals, to avoid losing various valuable properties in the future.

He further advised the communities not to farm close to the river within their period of stay before resettlement.

Hon. Tawiah said eventhough the two communities were pending relocation next year, the government deems it fit to ensure the security of the inhabitants and their properties.

The DCE stated further that his administration would operate an open-door policy in the district and urged   the communities to call at his office regularly to seek clarification and information where necessary.

The Abusuapanin of Bui, Opanin Yaw Ofori, on behalf of the victims commended the District Assembly for its timely intervention.
