The chiefs and people of Kwamang in the Sekyere Central District of Ashanti Region, have honoured 18 citizens for their contributions towards the development of the town.

The chiefs and people of Kwamang in the Sekyere Central District of Ashanti Region, have honoured 18 citizens for their contributions towards the development of the town.

The award winners include Mr Yaw Adu Gyimah, Commissioner of Police, Mr Kwame Osei Prempeh, Member of Parliament of Nsuta-Kwamang-Beposo Constituency, Madam Faustina Acheampong, former first lady, Dr Clement Richard Berko, a medical doctor and the late F.G Asiamah, who was honoured posthumously.

Others are Mr Isaac Amoako, Oheneba Kwame Debrah, Mr Isaac Yeboah, Mr Joe Adiyiah, Madam Alice Akuffo, Mr Kwame Owusu, Mr Paul Baafi Danso, Mr Kwabena Kwarteng, Mr D.A Osei, Nana Okoffo Takyi, Mr Awiemfo Yeboah Afari, Mr J.K Duku and Mr Newman Dapaah.

All the award winners received special citations.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party in the 2008 General Election, who was the Guest of Honour, said education was the most important aspect of the nation’s development.
    
He expressed the need for Senior High School education to be free to enable many students as possible to attain higher education.
    
Nana Akufo Addo advised parents to enrol their children in school and support their educational pursuit.
    
He donated GH¢1,000 to the educational fund launched by the chiefs and people for the development of the local senior high school.
    
Mr Ebenezer Akuoko Frimpong, District Chief Executive, appealed to the people to live in unity and support development projects in the area.
    
Speaking at the ceremony, Barimah Abayie Ntori-Nimpah II, Omanhene of Kwamang congratulated the people in the traditional area for their support and contributions to the town before and during his 17-year reign.
 
He said every citizen of the area deserved recognition and honour
and said the awards would be institutionalized to encourage more people to contribute to the development of the town.
