An appeal has been made to the government to take immediate steps to put into good shape, the Ejura-Asabuasu road, to facilitate easy transportation of huge stocks of foodstuff to marketing centres.
Assembly member for Asubuasu, Mr Samson Miibetib, who made the appeal, said the bad nature of the road had led to a lock up of large quantities of rice, maize, yams, cassava and cowpea produced by communities served by the road.
These communities include Santaso, Congo Number One, Issaka, Congo Number Two, Yireso, Gonja, Pemehwe, Balalo and Congo Number Three, Kyerekrom and Dagomba.
Mr Miibetib said apart from the difficulty in carting the food items, school children, especially from Dagomba are unable to cross the Afram River that runs across the road, any time it rained.
He said a bridge must be constructed to span the river to ensure the safety of the children.
The Assembly member also asked the Sekyere Central District Assembly to provide additional classrooms and teacher’s accommodation for teachers in the area.
