The Sekyere Central District Assembly has as at the end of June this year, mobilized GH¢ 42,363.06 out of the targeted revenue of GH¢ 142,177.31 from its traditional sources.

The Sekyere Central District Assembly has as at the end of June this year, mobilized GH¢ 42,363.06 out of the targeted revenue of GH¢ 142,177.31 from its traditional sources.
     

Mr Ebenezer Akuoko Frimpong, the District Chief Executive (DCE), announced this at the first ordinary meeting of the assembly at Nsuta.
     

He said that as part of measures to improve revenue collection in the area, the assembly has launched an intensive public education campaign, was training revenue collectors to upgrade their skills and formed a revenue task force.
    

The DCE said the assembly would ensure the collection of more reliable data on ratable items in the district.
    

He expressed concern about illegal timber operations in the area and called on chiefs and the assembly members to support the Forestry Commission to clamp down on those involved in the illegal activity.
     

Mr Frimpong also called the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) to expedite action on the installation of imported pump-machines at the Mampong and Beposo Bolster Stations to improve water supply in district.
    

He urged the assembly members to do away with partisan politics and unite  for the development of the area.
