The Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH) has organised a health outreach programme during which a large number of people were screened and treated of various diseases at Teshie.

The outreach programme was part of the 74th annual conference of the PSGH being held in Accra on the theme: “Managing Threats and Crisis: The Vital Role of Pharmacy in an Unstable World.”

The conference, which started on Monday, August 1 and ends on Friday, August 7 was a prelude to the 10th Commonwealth Pharmacy Association Conference.

The Chairperson of the Public Health Committee of the PSGH, Mrs Ellen Sam told journalists that the Medical Team was checking the blood pressure of the programme beneficiaries, their blood glucose level and body mass for counselling and treatment.

She said hypertension was a killer hence the need for people to know their blood pressure to get the right medical attention.

Mrs Sam said the Team was also carrying out general consultation for malaria, diarrhoea and respiratory infections.

The PSGH also has in stock 5,000 de-worming doses for children between two to 12 years.

Mrs Sam said the outreach programme which was part of the annual conference of the PSGH was always organised for deprived communities in the country as part of the social responsibility of the society.
