(ZEBILLA) BAWKU WEST: Over 2,000 grafted mango seedlings distributed to schools

World Vision Ghana, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) operating in the Upper East Region has presented 2,100 grafted mango seedlings to 11 schools in Zebilla in the Bawku West District.

World Vision Ghana, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) operating in the Upper East Region has presented 2,100 grafted mango seedlings to 11 schools in Zebilla in the Bawku West District.
    
The  Bawku West Area Development Programme Manager of the NGO, Mr Bernard Kpare advised the schools to plant the trees and nurture them to enable them to survive.
    
He noted that most of the trees had several benefits including bearing fruits for consumption and cash crops to be used to take care of the pupils.
   
Mr Kpare advised the school authorities and parents to plant trees to serve as wind breaks and stressed the need to inculcate tree planting habits into the children.
 
He expressed worry about recent climatic changes in the country and appealed to environmental experts to design pre-emptive programmes to reduce its effect.
  
Mr Kpare said apart from his outfit embarking on agriculture and health  programmes to address the needs of the people, it had offered sponsorship packages and donated assorted books to a number of schools in the district.
 
The Headmaster of the Timonde Primary School, tMr Enoch Atampugre thanked   World Vision Ghana for the gesture and pledged that the schools would plant the seedlings and take good care of them.
   
 The Assistant Director of Education,  Mr David Baba entreated parents to invest in their children’s education and said it was the best legacy they could bequeath to them.
