Lack of certain basic facilities is hampering efficient and effective health delivery services at the Abuakwa Government Health Centre in the Atwima Nwabiagya District.
Notable among them are infrastructure for consulting rooms, a fully resourced maternity and a ward, among others.
Chief Imoro Bandana II, Officer in charge of the Centre, said this at a durbar of chiefs and people of Abuakwa on Sunday to mark the Akwasidae Festival and the outdooring of Nana Appiah Boateng as the new chief.
He called on chiefs and people in the area to liaise with all stake holders to ensure the rapid expansion of the health centre to cater for the health needs of the people in the area.
Chief Imoro Bandana II said even though the district has a Buruli Ulcer Centre at the Nkawie-Toase Government Health Centre, the other structures for both medical and paramedical staffs are woefully inadequate.
He said the Centre can boast of an average attendance of 150 patients daily and 4,000 a week.
Chief Imoro Bandana, therefore re-echoed his appeal to all stakeholders to contribute their quota to enable the centre operate effectively and efficiently.
The building was put up during the first republic as a guest house.
