The National Identification registration exercise in the Central region has ended with a call on the National Identification Authority to set up district registration centres to cater for those who were not able to register during the national exercise.
Residents of Kasoa made the call in separate interviews during a tour of some registration centres in the town.
They said although the move by the NIA to take the registration to the doorstep of the people was commendable, there was also the need to have district centres, since moving from one geographical area to another would be an extra cost to people.
The NIA had indicated that the registration is neither time nor geographically bound.
Some also suggested that a day should be declared for school children to be registered, so that academic work will not be disrupted.
Other residents also expressed anger at the slow pace at which the registration exercise is being undertaken , which had discouraged others from registering.
As at Tuesday , a registeration officer had registered 1,927 people.
A registration also attributed the slow pace of registration to the inability of some residents to provide their personal details especially in the Kasoa area.
