(TATALE) ZABZUGU TATALE: EC urged to engage ISD
The Presiding Member of Zabzugu/Tatale District Assembly, Mr. Edward Attah Abebe Dawuni has called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to involve the Information Services Department in the public education on opening of the voters register before the December elections.

The Presiding Member of Zabzugu/Tatale District Assembly, Mr. Edward Attah Abebe Dawuni has called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to involve the Information Services Department in the public education on opening of the voters register before the December elections.
He said for all those who are now up to 18 years and above to register when the voters register is opened there is the need for the EC to carry out an intensive public education on the exercise.
Mr. Dawuni made the call when he received complains from some of the electorate about the low publicity during the replacement of lost voters Identification Cards (ID Cards).
He noted that Information Services Department now has Cinema Vans in all the Districts and they should be able to cover every part of the country when they are provided with the necessary logistics to carry out the campaign
nation-wide.
Mr. Dawuni stated that the general election for 2008 is fast approaching and it is hoped that the Electoral Commission will let the general public be aware of electoral offences cut across the entire electoral process.
He said this will enable all qualified registered voters to troop to their respective polling centres to exercise their franchise come Election Day.
He indicated that when the public is well educated they would avoid double registration.
According to the Presiding Member, the Information Services Department should be engaged to give video shows on the registration exercise also to explain to the electorates the need to register and the offences involve in double registration.
Mr. Dawuni commended the Media and Information Services Department for making the denomination of the cedi exercise very successful.
