The institutions comprise 35 Kindergartens, of which 20 are public, 35 Primary Schools with 20 public, and 20 Junior High Schools, including 15 public and 5 private schools. At the second-cycle level, the district has two public Senior High Schools and a public Nurses Training College, contributing to the development of human capital in the area.

Despite these achievements, the district currently has no vocational or technical institutions to provide structured skills training for the youth. This gap poses a challenge for young people who may not be academically inclined or are unable to continue formal education.
In the absence of formal vocational institutions, many young people in the district acquire employable skills through apprenticeship arrangements in mechanic shops, carpentry workshops, dressmaking, weaving, and hairdressing salons. These informal skills-training avenues have played a crucial role in supporting livelihoods and reducing unemployment among the youth.

To further enhance youth employability, the District Assembly plans to collaborate with the Rural Enterprises Project and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to explore the establishment of community-based capacity-building schemes. These initiatives are expected to target school dropouts and young people who are unable to access formal education, equipping them with practical skills for gainful employment.

Additionally, the Assembly intends to work closely with NGOs to promote sports development in the district as a means of youth empowerment, talent development, and social cohesion. These planned interventions underscore the Assembly’s commitment to inclusive education and skills development as key drivers of socio-economic growth in the Bolgatanga East District.
