Initiatives such as the School Feeding Programme, Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, and the Free School Uniform Project have significantly improved enrolment across various levels of education. These programmes have not only reduced the financial burden on parents but also encouraged more children to stay in school, laying a strong foundation for human capital development in the district.

Currently, Amenfi Central boasts an impressive 396 schools spread across its communities. This includes 149 Kindergarten schools, 137 Primary schools, one National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI), and one Senior High School located at Manso Amenfi. The presence of both public and private institutions ensures that families have options to access education, though public schools remain the backbone of the district’s educational system.

The expansion of schools and the government’s interventions has created opportunities for thousands of children who might otherwise have been excluded from formal education. The Free SHS programme, in particular, has opened doors for students to pursue secondary education without the barrier of tuition fees, while the School Feeding Programme continues to provide nutritious meals that improve concentration and attendance.

Despite these achievements, challenges remain. Infrastructure development, teacher recruitment, and resource allocation need to be strengthened to match the growing enrolment numbers. With only one Senior High School and one NVTI serving the entire district, access to higher-level education and vocational training is limited. Addressing these gaps will be crucial to sustaining the momentum and ensuring that every child in Amenfi Central receives quality education.

Education is the cornerstone of development, and Amenfi Central’s progress reflects the impact of government policies when effectively implemented. Continued investment in schools, teachers, and facilities will be vital to building a brighter future for the district and empowering its youth to contribute meaningfully to national growth.
