The project directly responds to years of complaints from pedestrians, drivers, and market users who have navigated the dimly lit corridor after sunset. Assembly officials state that crews are already assessing and fixing malfunctioning lights along the entire route.

“This initiative addresses a long-standing concern for our community,” a Municipal Assembly spokesperson said. “Restoring full lighting is a critical step in safeguarding our residents and boosting night-time vitality.”

The restoration is expected to deliver four key benefits:

* Enhanced Public Safety: Reliable lighting is anticipated to deter criminal activity and create a more secure environment for all.

* Improved Road Safety: Proper illumination of the highway, junctions, and pedestrian crossings aims to reduce traffic accidents.

* Revitalised Night-Time Economy: Consistent lighting will support businesses operating after dark and encourage greater economic activity.

* Increased Pedestrian Confidence: Residents will feel safer walking to and from the market, public transport stops, and their homes in the evening.
