The brief ceremony marked the completion of extensive renovation works, infrastructure upgrades and the furnishing of the facility. The project was financed through the Assembly’s Internally Generated Funds (IGF), demonstrating its commitment to investing local resources in critical public safety infrastructure.

Speaking at the ceremony, the District Chief Executive (DCE) Hon Emmanuel Obeng Agyemang  said the establishment of a properly equipped Fire Post was necessary to address longstanding challenges in fire prevention and emergency response within the area.

According to the DCE, the district had previously faced difficulties in providing timely emergency services due to the absence of dedicated fire personnel stationed within the community, as well as inadequate facilities to support effective operations.

The newly renovated facility is therefore expected to provide a suitable operational base for GNFS personnel, enabling them to respond more quickly to fire outbreaks and other emergencies.

The DCE further stressed the importance of strengthening fire prevention education among residents, noting that public awareness remained a critical component of reducing fire-related incidents and protecting lives and property.

With the completion and handover of the facility, the Assembly expressed confidence that the presence of stationed fire officers would improve emergency response times while enhancing collaboration between the GNFS, the Assembly and local communities.

The project forms part of the Assembly’s broader efforts to improve essential services and create a safer environment for residents. The facility is expected to play a key role in promoting fire safety education, prevention and rapid emergency response across the district.
