The commissioning of the facility marks another milestone in the Assembly's commitment to expanding essential social infrastructure and ensuring that residents have access to basic healthcare services closer to their homes.
The CHPS compound is expected to provide primary healthcare services, including maternal and child healthcare, immunization, health education, disease prevention, and treatment of minor ailments. The facility will also reduce the distance residents’ travel to access medical care, contributing to better health outcomes for the people of Meheme and surrounding communities.
The project forms part of a broader infrastructure development programme being undertaken by the Assembly with funding from the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF). The initiative is aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery while promoting equitable access to essential public services across the district.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, officials of the Assembly reiterated their commitment to improving the welfare of residents through strategic investments in healthcare, education, roads, and other critical infrastructure. They encouraged community members to take ownership of the facility by maintaining it and making good use of the services it provides.
Residents of Meheme expressed appreciation to the Assembly for the intervention, describing the new CHPS compound as a timely investment that will improve healthcare delivery and reduce the burden of travelling long distances to seek medical attention.
The Assembly reaffirmed its resolve to continue implementing development projects that enhance the quality of life of residents and support the district's overall socio-economic development.
