He disclosed that the support forms part of the government’s flagship agricultural program dubbed; Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD), which is also aimed at providing raw materials for the local industries in the area.

The MCE said the government is investing heavily in planting for food and jobs, planting for rural export and rural development programmes to encourage the youth in Agriculture.

According to him, the Assembly had already distributed free coconut seedlings to some farmers this year.

He has also supported some animal farmers with chicks and piglets as part of the government’s Rearing for Food and Job program.

Mr. Amoah was confident that with the numerous interventions, the municipality is on course to achieve the vision of boosting Agriculture in the area.

He appealed to the beneficiary farmers to follow all the directives given by the Agricultural Extension Officers to improve the growth of the seedlings on their various farms to achieve the purpose of the delivery.

He was optimistic that the planting for export and rural development initiative would go a long way to eradicate poverty in rural areas and improve livelihoods.

The MCE therefore urged the youth to take advantage of this flagship program to better their lives and refrain from illegal activities.
