He noted that some of the schools have problems in terms of student population size and available school blocks, so they have expanded some of the classrooms while also building schools in some communities that do not have.

For this, a six-unit classroom block is being built for the Pampatia Community to not only bring the school closer to their doorstep but also to help decongest areas students from the community currently access education.

Also several schools and teachers' quarters are also undergoing renovation in the assembly's quest to give the schools a facelift and provide an atmosphere that supports effective teaching and learning.

On the issue of teachers' quarters, the DCE singled out Duabonko, a community that failed to retain teachers over the years because of accommodation challenges because the teachers' quarters is in a deplorable state as well as the school. As such the two facilities are receiving attention to attract teachers and students as well.

LEGACY PROJECTS

Like many other districts, the Afigya Kwabre North District has uncompleted projects littered all over the district.

So in fulfilment of the President's directive that Assemblies should ensure the completion of all such projects, the DCE said five of such projects have been targeted for completion this year.

These include:
1- five -unit story building for the district Chief Executive,
2- Dining hall for the Afigyaman Senior High School;
3- 12-unit water closet toilet facility at Amoako;
4- 6-unit self-contained teachers' quarters; and
5- Akom Community center.

The DCE expressed hope that all the projects would be completed by the end of the year to make room for others to target in subsequent years.
