MCE meet staff of the staff of the Assembly

The primary objective of this meeting was to provide a platform for staff members to express their concerns, share their opinions, and offer suggestions on how to improve the overall functioning of the assembly.
The durbar served as a valuable platform for open dialogue and interaction between the management and staff, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose.
It is expected that the discussions and commitments made during the durbar will lead to improvements in staff welfare, productivity, and overall performance of the assembly.
The Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD) address focused on several critical areas that require attention and improvement from the staff. These included:
Punctuality and Attendance: The MCD expressed concern over the tardiness of many staff members, noting that the majority arrive at work after 9 am.
He stressed the importance of punctuality, emphasizing that it is crucial for maintaining productivity and achieving the assembly’s goals.
The MCD urged all staff members to make a conscious effort to arrive on time and be ready to work.
Productivity during Working Hours: The MCD also highlighted the need for staff to be diligent and focused during working hours.
He observed that some staff members were often seen standing outside or engaging in non-work-related activities during work hours, which is unacceptable.
Professionalism and Image: The MCE emphasized the significance of maintaining a professional image both within and outside the workplace.
He encouraged staff to be mindful of their attitude, speech, and dress code, as these aspects significantly impact the assembly’s reputation.
The MCE urged staff to present themselves in a manner that reflects positively on the assembly, promoting a good image and fostering public trust.
The MCE in turn advised staff to utilize their time effectively and efficiently, ensuring that they are productive and contribute to the assembly’s objectives.
The Municipal Coordinating Director reminded staff of the importance of following established procedures for various requests, such as study leave.
He advised staff to submit their applications before reconfirming admission, ensuring that the process is smooth and efficient for all parties involved.
The open forum segment of the durbar allowed staff members to raise various issues and concerns. Some of the key points discussed included:
Nimako Boateng, the Chief Driver, brought up the issue of vehicle maintenance and the need for allowances for drivers during night travels.
The MCE assured the staff that management would work on addressing these concerns, recognizing the critical role drivers play in the assembly’s operations.
Samuel Yeboah from the HR department highlighted the poor state of the washrooms and the presence of leakages.
The MCE advised staff to use the facilities responsibly and gently, while also instructing the engineers to inspect and fix the leakages to ensure a clean and safe working environment.
Eric from the Procurement unit raised the issue of staff ID cards, which the MCE tasked the HR unit and client service to expedite action. Ensuring that all staff members have ID cards is essential for security and identification purposes.
Betty from the Agriculture department requested protective gear for workers who are often exposed to various risks while working in the field.
The MCE assured her that management would provide the necessary support to the department to ensure the safety and well-being of its workers.
Concerns about security within the assembly’s premises were also raised. The MCE promised that management would convene a meeting to discuss and implement effective security measures to safeguard staff and property.
The issue of Christmas packages for staff was brought up, with the MCE committing to improve these packages in the future. Recognizing and rewarding staff during festive periods can boost morale and motivation.
Various welfare issues were discussed, including lighting at the old block, numbering of houses within the assembly, and the PA system.
The MCE noted these concerns and assured staff that they would be addressed to improve the working environment.
In his closing remarks, the MCE reiterated the importance of professionalism, teamwork, and dedication to duty.
He urged staff to put aside political differences and work collaboratively towards achieving the assembly’s goals.
