According to him for the past eight years they have not recorded a pass beyond fifty percent rate but himself and the MP have instituted an education fund to address the challenge causing the mass failure.

In an interview, he pointed out that so far they have been able to raise one hundred thousand Ghana cedis as seed money even though originally the target was two hundred thousand cedis.

He used the opportunity to appeal to sons and daughters of the municipality to assist, likewise NGOs and philanthropist that are interested in education can come to their aid to help change the narrative.

This came when the Municipality took it turn at the just ended public hearing on the Interna Audit Report on MMDAs for the year ended 2024.

The MCE further noted that one reason for the problem in the massive failure is lack of monitoring as some teachers for weeks would not go to school, but the educational directorate is not able to detect that teachers are not in school.

“Some go very late, the students don't attend school, but they are not able to detect these things. In addition there are some new courses that are introduced in the education system, building design technology and then creative arts. These courses, the teachers are not well-versed because they were not taught at any level before the course was introduced, not even in the Primary, JHS and even the training colleges, they were not taught. So, they need to organize in-service training to give them the content for them to be able to teach; so part of the money they use for a full education service work is to go around the schools to monitor”.

And we also use part of it to organize quizzes for the schools, such that some rewards in the form of trophies, educational materials and alerts will be given to wining students and their schools. This will motivate students to sit up and learn.

Meanwhile, whiles before the Committee the issue of delays in logging funds into bank accounts that ends up not being logged, that is internal generated funds came up and from the advice given by the chairperson, he noted that his team with the support of the MP would ensure that on market days funds collected immediately are logged into bank account by sending a vehicle to the various markets to aid in that direction.
