According to sources, the Assembly has consistently fallen short of its internally generated fund (IGF) targets over the years as this has significantly affected the timely execution of key programmes and development projects within the municipality.

But to help address this challenge, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Abdul Ganiyu Ibrahim, revealed in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com that the Assembly has outsourced the task of data collation to a private organization to compile a new data on properties across the municipality by December this year.

“We want to make sure that by December, we have all the data for Ayawaso East for property rate collection,” Mr. Ibrahim stated.

The MCE said the initiative forms part of the Assembly’s broader strategy to enhance its revenue base as well as reduce dependence on the District Assemblies Common Fund and other donor support to finance its developmental projects.

He reiterated that introduction of the new digital revenue is vital to meeting the Assembly’s annual financial targets.
