The intervention follows safety concerns raised by officers stationed at the crossing, who highlighted the need for improved navigation equipment to support the safe movement of passengers and goods across the lake.

The Adawso–Ekye crossing serves as an important transport link between communities on both sides of the Volta Lake, facilitating movement, trade and access to essential services. The route is particularly significant to residents, traders, farmers and other travellers who depend on lake transport for their daily activities.

The provision of the navigation equipment is expected to assist the Volta Lake Transport Company in improving vessel navigation and addressing some of the operational challenges associated with crossing the lake.

The intervention also highlights the importance of investing in marine transport infrastructure and safety systems to protect passengers and crew while ensuring reliable transportation services for communities that depend on the lake.

Dr Bryan Acheampong’s support comes in response to concerns raised by officers on the ground, demonstrating the importance of addressing operational challenges that could affect the safety and efficiency of public transport services.

The improved navigation support is expected to contribute to safer journeys and strengthen the role of the Adawso–Ekye route in connecting communities and supporting economic activities across the two districts.

The development further underscores the need for continued collaboration among public officials, transport operators and relevant institutions to maintain safety standards and improve transport services on the Volta Lake.
