Atebubu-Amantin MCE opens 3 day workshop on MTDP

The Atebubu-Amantin Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Thomas Masud Musah Ayaaba has opened a three day workshop on the preparation of the medium term development plan for 2026-2029.

Referring to section 12 of the Local Government Act 2016 and section 2 of the National Development Planning System Act 480 of 1994, he said assemblies are clothed with the authority to formulate and execute development plans.

“As reiterated by the Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission some months ago, the development paradigm of the Medium-Term National Development Policy

Framework, coupled with global commitments including the African Union (AU) Agenda 2063 and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs), has ushered in a new era of development focus.” He said.

The MCE reminded participants that the welfare of children, local economic development, green jobs, resilience planning and public-private partnerships underscores the dynamic nature of planning adding that it essential to align local development priorities to national development objectives.

The Atebubu-Amantin Municipal Development Planning Officer Mr. Abdul Aziz Toyibu said the workshop has the objective of reviewing the current plan, assessing development gaps and proposing interventions that will address the development challenges of the municipality in the next four years.

Presentations will be made on water, sanitation, agriculture, health, education, governance, physical planning, disaster prevention and management as well as natural resource conservation, forestry, game and wildlife.

Issues of health insurance, security, energy, roads, business, social welfare, community development and climate chance are also slated for discussions over the 3 day period.
