DACF: We’re poised to implement the project directive by the president – Okaikwei North MCE

The Okaikwei Municipal Assembly is ready to roll out projects for the District Assembly Common Fund as outlined by the Guidelines from the seat of government.

The Municipal Chief Executive in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com stated that a number of meetings have been had involving chiefs, opinion leaders, as well as the citizens to identify project points.

He said the Assembly has put its budget together and in some cases secured lands for the execution of the projects.

On the 24-hour Market project, he said, the Assembly has secured land and awaits the approval of drawings and designs from the government during which period they will disclose the location for work to start.

On the 20 percent allocation for the completion of legacy projects, the MCE affirmed his commitment to tackle the Municipal Assembly block to provide suitable working environment for the various decentralised departments, bring them under one roof and make access easy for the public.

Other projects of concern under the legacy projects, he noted include ICT block at Tesano Cluster of schools, Community-based Health Planning Services (CHPS) compound at Christian Village, some school buildings Anomle compound, Tesano Cluster of schools.

He said the Assembly also intends paving some roads that do not necessarily need asphalting to make accessibility to the communities very easy for the people. Achimota MArket Link, Dzata House, Christian Village entry point to the durbar ground, some parts of Kisseman Township, some identified areas in Nii Boi Town as well as other areas in the municipality.

Mr Christian Tetteh Badger disclosed his keen interest in keeping the municipality clean, the reason he supervised the clearing of waste in and around lapaz enclave few days after assuming office, adding that Zoomlion workers are still on site cleaning the areas.

He disclosed that the Assembly is working on engaging the services of other waste management organisations through competitive bidding in order to keep a robust waste collection system.

"Our dream at ONMA is to ensure a two-way waste collection system where we collect in the morning and in the evening; and also looking at the possibilities of paying the workers on two-week basis to motivate them".

He said sanitation though not fully covered has seen much improvement and the Assembly is on course to ensuring a cleaner municipality.
