They also called on the Member of Parliament in the area Gizella Akushika Tetteh-Agbotu to fulfill his promise made to them during the 2024 electioneering campaign to provide them with potable water.
The People highlighted the struggles women and students face in accessing potable water. They explained that women in the area spend a significant amount of time fetching water, taking away their productive hours and impacting their economic potential.
“Again the water crisis has made most teachers to apply for transfers which is affecting the education of the children.” they added.
In an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, some of the women bear the primary responsibility for water collection, which affected their daily routines and economic activities.
Also students also struggled daily to access clean water, impacting their education and overall well-being.
He said for over 25 years the community had depended on water supplied by water tankers which the majority of the people could not afford and had to fall on streams and boreholes which posed health problems.
Madam Doris Tetteh, a citizen of the area, said water cost them more than food and pleaded with the MP, and by extension the Government, to come to their aid.
