MP donates desk to education directorate for onward distribution to schools

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asokwa Constituency, Madam Patricia Appiagyei has donated a total of 264 school desks as well as office and library furniture to the municipal educational directorate for onward distribution to the schools in the Asokwa Municipality.

Presenting the desks to the educational directorate the MP said the government is committed to investing resources into education. This, she noted, is the reason she periodically lobbies and purchases such items that would enhance education in the area.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area Mr. Akwannuasah Gyimah charged the education directorate to monitor the usage of the items provided to the schools. He said that the proper usage and maintenance of the items would ensure they last long for the purpose it was given out.

The MCE also charged heads of schools present at the handing-over ceremony to keep an eye on the items so that it serves the interest of the schools as well as aid in teaching and learning at the same.

The municipal director of education Reverend Ebenezer Oteng Marfo giving details of the gesture said the items donated by the MP consisted of 50 pieces of tables, 180 chairs and desks, 30 library chairs and desks and 4 shelves.

He commended the Member of Parliament and the Municipal Chief Executive for particularly taking interest in the functional aspects of education in the municipality and constantly providing for the needs at same.
