Tuobodom Police Station received donation of bullet proof vest

Mr. Alfred Amo Nyarko, a native of Tuobodom in the Techiman North District who currently resides in the United States of America for the past 38 years and doubles as a contractor donated two bullet proof vests to support Tuobodom police station in fighting crime in the area.

Mr. Amo revealed in an interaction with the ISD team about that reason behind the support to the police that for the past years he executed contracts in most Government projects in Ghana, and looking at the difficulty and the risk policemen go through every day in their line of duty just to protect lives and properties in this country, he cannot, but support to help build mother Ghana in his small way as a native of the District.

The District Chief Executive for Techiman North, Peter Mensah presented the items to the Station officer on behalf of the District Police Commander Superintendent Peter yaw Sakyi.

He stressed that the District needs individuals like Mr. Alfred Amo Nyarko to support in up lifting the District, he expressed March gratitude for the kind gesture and pray that others will emulate such kind gesture to support the district attains its dreams.

The station officer, inspector Manasseh Obuobisa after receiving the items thanked Mr. Alfred Amo Nyarko for his support and said as Oliver twist will always ask for more.

He was quick to add that the station lacks essential equipment like pepper spray, shocker light, and many others to help in crowd control in the District.



Mr. Amo further stated that the police service needs protective equipment to enable them combat crime effectively and to also stay alive for their families.

He emphasis that, Government alone cannot provide all the needs of the various institutions, agencies and organization hence the need for individuals, philanthropies, benevolent organizations to support in building a pros prose Ghana.

The District police commander on arrival after the ceremony seized the opportunity to request through the District chief executive to use his good office to lobby for more personnel for the district.

He said the personnel strength in the district is not encouraging. He further stated that as a District police station all other units of the police service such as MTTD, CID units must be added to the District to make it function effectively as a District police Command. He said the absence of the MTTD unit in the District makes work difficult.

He pleaded with the District Chief executive to support him in that direction by lobbying through the IGP to fast ruck the creation of the Motor traffic and transport Department (MTTD) in the District.
