Atebubu- Amantin MCE calls for effective revenue mobilization for development

He said this as part of his sessional address, during the first ordinary meeting of the Atebubu-Amantin municipal assembly for the year in Atebubu.
Hon. Ayaaba said management of the assembly has had a series of meetings with revenue collectors which will culminate in a training programme aimed at sharpening their skills for effective job delivery adding that the assembly will also embark on a public sensitization campaign on the need for residents to fulfill their financial obligations to the local authority.
He address also touched on security, finance, development projects and programmes, education, social support, agriculture as well as the 24 hour economy and accelerated export programme.
The MCE said efforts on the part of central government and the municipal assembly has led to a reduction in armed robbery admitting however that petty thievery within communities remains a problem.
“Hon Presiding Member, as of May 31 2025, the assembly total revenue from all sources amounted to GHC3,359,113.84 representing 21.26% of the annual target of GHC15,797,711.25” he said hoping that the assembly will achieve its hundred percent target by close of year.
On development projects and programmes, Hon. Ayaaba indicated that education continues to take a chunk of investments in the municipality amounting to about 37% with the rest spread among sectors like governance and security, health, water and sanitation as well as economic development among others.
He said a recent meeting of the Municipal Education Oversight Committee brought to the fore some teething challenges facing quality education delivery in the municipality which include inadequate supply of classroom furniture and the maintenance of educational infrastructure adding that adequate provision will be made from the district assembly common fund for the 2025 fiscal year to help deal with the situation.
The MCE urged businessmen in the municipality to take advantage of the 24 hour economy and accelerated export programme which aims at enhancing productivity and inclusive economic growth to create jobs for the teeming youth in the municipality.
Hon. Ayaaba took the assembly members through the government agriculture flagship ‘Feed Ghana’ programme and its benefits and urged them to impress on their constituents especially the youth to take advantage of it to create wealth for themselves.
The assembly also discussed the executive committee’s report presented by the MCE.
