Assembly promises to make security, provision of social amenities a priority

The Ejisu Municipal Assembly led by the Municipal Chief Executive, Mrs. Jerryne Asante on Tuesday 30th September 2025, promised to make the security of the citizenry a priority as well as related issues including provision of social amenities accessible to the populace.

The MCE stated this during the second ordinary general assembly meeting of the second session of the ninth assembly of the Ejisu Municipal Assembly.

She pointed out that development thrives on security without which social interventions and others cannot be achieved; hence her resolve to help the president in the resetting agenda of the municipality and by extension the nation.

To this end, the various sub-committees’ recommendations and the general assembly especially stressed the need to support the security agencies with fuel for night patrols, assist communities to form watch dog committees as well as provide streetlights for adequate illumination of the environs to prevent crime and protect lives and property.

It was also agreed to provide refuse containers for all communities without such containers and ensure early evacuation of the refuse each time it is full. Provision of potable water, furniture for selected basic schools by end of 2025, renovation of some deplorable school blocks such as Onwe M/A primary and R/C basic schools, Domeabra basic school, Odaho/ Donaso basic and Abenase among others. Deplorable road networks are also recommended for rehabilitations to improve trade and commerce.

The above notwithstanding, keeping the populace abreast with development is key; hence it was agreed upon to resource Information Services Department and NCCE to carry out public education across the municipality. Thus, the youth would be educated to undertake training in the artisanry, eradicate illegal drug peddling, teenage pregnancy, abuse of contraceptives and its consequences; as well as enlightening communities on the dangers of encouraging on wetlands such as river bafom.

There was also education on the impending Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccination of girls between the ages of 9 and 14yrs against cervical cancer, by the Deputy Director of Public Health at the Municipal Directorate, Madam Felicia Maame Efua Dua. Madam Efua asked for the support and corporation of members to educate the populace so there can be a successful vaccination. Members were also taken through the signs and symptoms of cervical cancer.
