TECHIMAN: Stakeholders sensitized on feed Ghana program

The program brought together farmer groups across the municipality, agro input dealers, Assembly members, Agric extension officers, Nananoom, queen mothers, religious leaders, community based organizations (CBO) as well as civil society organization (CSO’s).
The municipal coordinating director, Mr. Emmanuel Amoah, outlined the purpose of the program and encouraged farmers to take advantage of the program to produce more in the coming years.
Mr. Stephen Aidoo, the Municipal Director of Agriculture in his statement indicated that the initiative aims to increase production of food for both domestic and export.
He further stated that the program will also ensure food security and the government is ready to invest more on farm produce like maize, rice, sorghum, soybeans, cassava, yam and potatoes and many other groups.
He urged farmers in the municipality to form identifiable groups and register their groups with unique names for essay identification.
He added that farmers with identity in a particular community can get support more easily than those without registration and identity.
In his remarks the Municipal Chief Executive, Kwaku Adjei Mensah stressed that this brilliant intervention being launched by His Excellency president John Dramani mahama in the Bono East region specifically Techiman was for a good reason.
He seized the opportunity to caution participants to beware of unscrupulous people who always take advantage of program of this nature to exploit the citizenry, he urged all stakeholders to be watchful and only participate or partake in programs organized by the Department of Agriculture, the Assembly or reps from the Assembly.
Hon. Adjei Mensah emphasized that programs that are organized by unknown persons or individuals should be properly checked to avoid any fraudulent deals. He stressed that Agriculture activities thus not rely on only crops but also Animal rearing as well, he said the animals will help us get the meat we consume every day.
He urged participants to inculcate the habit of rearing animals such as Goats, sheep, Cows and many others to help boost the economy.
Traditional Authority present to grace the occasion includes Nana Boaffour Oppong II and Nana Yeboaa Asumah III, Atontenhemaa of the Techiman traditional area.
