The intervention is expected to improve visibility and safety within the community, particularly during the evening and night hours, while creating a more conducive environment for commercial and social activities. Residents, including dressmakers, hairdressers, fashion designers and other business operators, have particularly praised the District Chief Executive Isaac Yawson, for supporting the installation of the streetlights.
According to the residents, the lighting system would enable businesses to operate more effectively beyond normal working hours, especially during periods of power outages. They expressed optimism that the initiative would create additional opportunities for traders and other entrepreneurs whose activities often extend into the evening.
The residents further noted that improved street lighting would contribute to public safety and security by making streets and business areas more visible at night. They believe the intervention would encourage more people to engage in commercial and social activities without the challenges associated with poorly lit surroundings.
While commending the Assembly for the initiative, the residents also appealed to the DCE to pay attention to the poor condition of roads in the district. They specifically mentioned the Twifo Praso Bimpon, Agya Kyeaboso road, which they said becomes difficult to use during the rainy season.
They explained that the poor road conditions affect farmers and traders who depend on the route to transport agricultural produce and other goods to the Twifo Praso market.
In response, the DCE urged residents to support development initiatives that create economic opportunities and improve livelihoods in their communities.
The installation of the solar streetlights forms part of broader efforts to strengthen infrastructure and promote economic activities beyond conventional working hours under the government's 24-hour economy initiative.
The intervention is expected to contribute to improved security, increased business activity and better living conditions for residents of Twifo Praso and surrounding communities.
