According to the Paramount chief, the creation of the third district would go a long way to fast track developmental projects that had been stalled in the area to enhance socio-economic advancement of the people.

Okofo  Eku made the call when he addressed a grand durbar of chiefs and people of Agona Nyakrom to climax their annual Akwambo festival at Nyakrom.

The Paramount chief said this had become imperative considering the fast growing population of Agona Nyakrom, and therefore expressed optimism that President Mahama would heed their calls to use his executive power to create a district for them.

Okofo Eku also made an appeal to the government to restore the powers of chiefs to enable them punish recalcitrant citizens.

Okofo Katakyi said the 2025 Akwambo festival had accrued some funds to construct a male, a female and a children’s wards as well as a wall around the Nyakrom Health Centre.

He appealed to the Ministry of Health to upgrade the centre to a Polyclinic status due to the high population growth in the town.

He said the road project linking Agona Swedru to Agona Mensakrom project had been stalled for far too long, making it extremely difficult for farmers and market women to bring food stuffs to markets at Swedru and Awutu Bawjiase.

Okofo Katakyi appealed to the government to complete that road to facilitate transportation of goods and services to enhance economic growth.

The overlord of Agonaman further called on the government to rehabilitate Nyakrom town roads to ensure free movement of vehicles, goods and services to promote economic prospects.

Nana Prah Agyensaim VI, Omanhene of Assin Owirenkyi Traditional Area, who chaired the function, donated 200 bags of cement and 5,000 cedis cash to support the ongoing development projects at Nyakrom Health Centre.
