Mr. Fiagbenu highlighted that the collapsed Sayikorfe bridge, originally a single-lane structure without a pedestrian walkway, had posed significant risks to commuters.
He appealed to the government for an upgraded reconstruction into a dual-carriage bailey bridge with a dedicated walkway, a request that was granted.
He further noted that, "when progress on the Sayikorfe project reached about 40 percent, I again appealed for the nearby Tsetsekpo bridge to be rehabilitated to the same standard."
Following this appeal, a team from the Bridge Maintenance Unit at Kukurantumi, led by Project Supervisor Mr. Jonas Asamoa Pepra, began rehabilitation and expansion works.
The Assembly Member stated that after a brief pause in activity, he contacted the Volta Regional Director of the GHA for clarification, receiving a prompt response.
On November 16, 2023, the project supervisor confirmed the completion and handover of the Tsetsekpo bridge to the regional office for commissioning.
Mr. Fiagbenu appealed to the relevant authorities to expedite the commissioning of both bridges to enhance safety and improve transportation for residents and commuters.
He also urged Joshob Construction Company Limited to intensify work on the AdidomeāJuapong road and emphasized the need for immediate maintenance of the deteriorating alternative route.
Mr. Fiagbenu expressed gratitude to the government for its responsiveness and pledged to continue working collaboratively to advance development in the Central Tongu District.
