The Municipal Chief Executive, Joseph Antwi told journalists in parliament that in June of this year, the leadership of CLOGSAG wrote to him that their Members would not be coming to work until calm is restored to the district to ensure their safety.

This was after another violent clash on June 25 forcing a lot of people to find shelter elsewhere.

He said since 2nd September, 2025 when the over 200 staff resumed, work has been going on satisfactorily in the district.

According to him the District Security Council has put in place measures to contain any form of escalation of the clash.

However, to avoid being fished out, people have resulted to target killing and they hid in the bushes to shoot at unsuspecting individuals who go to farm as it happened last Tuesday.

He said due to Tuesday's incident, the district security council in collaboration with the Regional Security Council is meeting to review their strategy to improve the safety of the people in the district.

He admitted that the impact of the clash on the Assembly has been dire particularly on their revenue mobilization drive as many people fled the district, thus slowing down economic activities.

He noted that prior to the clash, the district was doing between 80-90 percent revenue mobilizations; but that suffered a significant drop to about 50-60 percent.

This, he said explains why the people must be empressed upon to move away from the violence to the use of the law to settle their differences; stating that violence has never and would never be the solution.

He advised the people to lay down their arms as the insecurity being created will only retard development in the area and further push the district deeper into poverty.
