Concerns raised by them included lack of health and health facilities, damage to buildings from the company's operations.
Speaking to the media, the Assembly Member for the electoral area, Hon Prince Yaw Boateng disclosed the residents felt excluded and neglected by the said industry seeing it as not benefitting from their God-given natural resources but being exploited.
He said the company had reneged on its initial agreement entered into with the traditional authorities and the community some few years back before the commencement of their operations.
He stated the situation has led to lack of corporate social responsibilities.
Honourable Boateng disclosed it took the intervention of the Chief of the community, Nana Owusu Sekyere, the District Police Commander ASP Joseph Attama ,some community leaders, including himself to calm the agitated crowd after meeting with the management of the company.
According to him, the management had assured them of addressing their concerns in a time frame of one month, citing the absence of their Chief Executive who had travelled abroad and hoped to return within the timeline.
The Assembly Member warned the situation could escalate into chaos if the deadline and the agreement were breached adding, the residents would not tolerate activities that threatened their livelihoods and environment.
Security was tightened at the company's entrance by the District Police preventing anyone from entering.
