According to the DCE, this milestone is a significant step in the Assembly’s efforts to mobilize more resources to finance development projects under its “reset agenda.”

To build on this achievement, the Assembly is partnering with a private entity to assist in the collection of property rates and other local levies.

The DCE explained that the collaboration would leverage modern technology to identify properties and generate accurate bills for property owners, aiming to enhance revenue mobilization and curb financial leakages.

Speaking to Ghanadistricts.com, Mr. Anom lamented that in the past, the Assembly had consistently received only a fraction of its projected IGF.

However, he expressed optimism that the introduction of technology would significantly boost collections and improve financial transparency.

He also revealed that many businesses, including small-scale mining operations in Kwabeng and surrounding communities, are operating without valid Business Operating Permits.

He stressed that the new system would help address such loopholes and ensure compliance.

The DCE further emphasized that while the Assembly continues to promote responsible and sustainable mining practices, it is equally focused on ensuring that all mining operators fulfill their financial obligations by paying the appropriate levies to the Assembly.
