The project, which started in 2009 cost GH¢370,000 and has 11 multipurpose rooms, one main court room, six service washrooms and a spacious car park.

The commissioning of the project formed part of the Chief Justice’s nationwide tour to ascertain the level and standard of buildings of the Judicial Service.

The inspection of the court buildings was to ensure that they are up to the right standard to help promote justice delivery.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Justice expressed her satisfaction about the adequate rooms in the building.

She said these days, it was a requirement to provide child-friendly places to help in the address of cases involving minors.

Ms Akuffo called for the creation of child places at the court and promised to ‘pick’ the expenses for the setting up of the child-friendly centre.

She appealed to other districts to emulate the effort of the Birim North Assembly in putting up such a magnificent edifice.

The Birim North District Chief Executive, Remond Nana Damptey, said aside from the court building, the assembly had also renovated the bungalow of the District Magistrate and the place had also been furnished.

The Member of Parliament for Abirem, John Frimpong Osei, urged the people to be law abiding because when anyone breached the law, there was no consideration.

He promised to furnish the judge’s chamber with an air condition to ensure a comfortable working condition.

The Chief of New Abirem, Obirempong Kwasi Amo Kweretwie I, said in the past, because there was no court, the people of New Abirem had to travel to either Nkawkaw or Ofoase to access court services.

He said the coming of the court has brought discipline to the district and pledged to support the court with two desktop computers and accessories and a digital camera to facilitate the court proceedings.
