Adansi North District plants tress to mark ‘Green Ghana Day’

The Adansi North District Assembly has duly marked Green Ghana Day to ensure trees are planted in the District at advantageous points to help harness the benefits trees offer.

District Chief Executive (DCE) Hon. Kwaku Kusi Eric who led the tree planting exercise encouraged people to grow more plants around their homes because human beings depend on their oxygen for survival.

He added that trees also serve as wind breakers during storms and therefore shield roofings of buildings from ripping off. He stated that the District received a total number of ten thousand (10,000) seedlings for distribution in the District.

Nana Owi Asamoah II Beseasehene, who represented Nana Adansihene at the event applauded government for this initiative and encourage all to actively plant trees now to save the future.

He advised all to save guard the forests since they offer enormous benefits to human survival such as enhancing rain fall. Nana Owi stated that, nanamon on their part have requested for about half quota the trees received by the District Assembly to plant to beauty the community especially the surroundings of the new District Hospital.

The head of forestry commission Mr George Owusu Anane thanked all for gracing the occasion and promised that more seedlings will be delivered to the District to serve the aim of the Assembly and Nananom in greening the District.

Nana Owi together with the DCE and organizers of the event promised to involve students in the tree planting exercise to inculcate the culture of tree planting in them.

The DCE, Nananom and other staff of the Assembly planted seedlings around the premises of the Assembly while some seedlings were distributed to individuals.
