The sensitisation exercise was led by the District HIV/AIDS Focal Person, Mr Maxwell Aborigo, and a Public Health Nurse at the Berekum West District Health Directorate, Mr Emmanuel Kwadwo Kpreka.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr Kpreka highlighted the need for intensified and coordinated efforts to address the spread of HIV/AIDS, urging Assembly Members and Heads of Department to take an active role in educating their staff and residents in their respective communities.
He called for increased public education, voluntary HIV testing and counselling, as well as efforts to eliminate stigma and discrimination against persons living with HIV.

According to him, strengthening awareness and community engagement would help improve access to prevention, treatment and support services while reducing new infections.
Mr Kpreka further urged participants to approach their responsibilities with dedication, compassion and a strong sense of duty, noting that the fight against HIV/AIDS required sustained collaboration among health professionals, traditional authorities, religious leaders, civil society organisations and other stakeholders.
For his part, Mr Aborigo encouraged the participants to extend the knowledge acquired during the sensitisation exercise to their communities and workplaces to deepen public awareness and promote responsible health practices.
