The extensive clean-up operation saw a collaborative effort involving residents, Assembly staff, opinion leaders, and various stakeholders. Participants worked in unison, sweeping streets, clearing choked drains, and removing refuse across numerous neighborhoods.

Municipal Coordinating Director, Seth Anim Boadi, highlighted that the Assembly has consistently organized similar clean-up activities in recent years. He emphasized that these efforts are integral to a long-term strategy focused on embedding sanitation as a shared responsibility within the community.

"So far, a number of people have been prosecuted for flouting sanitation regulations, while others have faced spot fines. These measures are not to punish, but to encourage residents to take responsibility for their surroundings," Mr. Boadi explained.

Reflecting on Adenta's distinguished record of being recognized as Ghana’s cleanest municipality four times, Mr. Boadi underscored the Assembly’s unwavering determination to maintain this standard.

"Our vision is to make Adenta the cleanest municipality in the country at all times, and we want to set a benchmark for other districts to follow," he stated.

This intensified focus on sanitation comes at a critical juncture, as poor waste management poses significant health risks nationwide. Experts have cautioned that inadequate drainage and improper refuse disposal could exacerbate the threat of diseases like cholera and malaria, particularly during the rainy season.

The Assembly has affirmed its commitment to continuing periodic clean-up exercises, intensifying public awareness campaigns, and rigorously enforcing sanitation by-laws.

These measures are designed to solidify Adenta's position as a model municipality and contribute effectively to President Mahama’s national vision for a cleaner Ghana.
