Touching on the significance of putting a bridge over the river Oti and also listing it as one of his topmost priorities in his first two years of office, the MCE reiterated his commitment to explore various means to get the project done and also on time to improve the standard of living in the area.
Describing the ordeals residents go through due to the absence of a bridge on the river, the MCE noted that commuters are usually compelled to wake up at dawn to their quest to join a ferry at Dambi before being able to travel to other adjoining districts.
He bemoaned the stress and risk residents including school pupils and traders face daily due to the lack of bridge linking the municipality and other communities, adding that the situation had often discouraged investors from visiting the area.
He however, noted that; “When a bridge is put on river Oti it will make transportation very easy and investors too will come to the area. We have a lot of investment potentials here”.
Asked if a feasibility study had already been conducted on the project, the MCE answered affirmative, stressing that a group called Krachi Development Foundation recently consulted engineers who came up with all necessary drawings and design to facilitate the project.
“What is left now is just the funds and contractors to work on the project”, he concluded.
