Mr Alhassan Sorogodoo, District Chief Executive for Sanarigu says the assembly is devising strategies to secure funding to ensure that communities that lacked access to safe water and hygiene facilities were assisted.

This is to complement efforts of the development partners who through their benevolence are contributing to relieve the social difficulties of the residents, especially people living in the deprived communities.

This came to light when Behasun Integrated Development Organization (BIDO), a Tamale based NGO handed over a new water facility to the chiefs and people of Nyeshie community in the district to improve their water situation.

The facility is a Water Aid funded project secured for the locals to improve accessibility to potable water.

Dr. Chaka Uzundo, Policy Manager for Water Aid, handed over the water kiosk, fitted with an overhead water tank to the authorities at a brief ceremony, which coincided with the World Water day celebration at the weekend in Tamale.

He tasked local communities including Nyeshie, to take proper care of the facility to ensure its longer life span so that they could derive maximum benefits out of it.
