Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Ga East Municipal Assembly, Mr. John Kwao Sackey has welcomed the re-launch of the Environmental Service Providers Association (ESPA) which seeks to complement government efforts in solving challenges in sanitation.
He said it was important to see the final disposal of waste as a collective responsibility and not the work of local authorizes alone adding that the problem of waste management should be addressed holistically.
He was however happy that ESPA has been revived to create a platform that brings all the service providers together under one umbrella.
“Bringing all the providers together is very important since it will give them a common voice and a sense of direction,” he rightly added.
The MCE made the above known in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com during the re-launch of the ESPA in Accra last week.
He however called on the media and stakeholders to hit on attitudinal change so that the fight against sanitation would be realized.
ESPA is an advocacy body for environmental service providers and was incorporated as a company limited in 2001 to serve as an Association for Waste Management Companies providing services in both solid and liquid waste within the Metropolitan/Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) nationwide.
