Communities in the Nkoranza Traditional area have been commended for assisting the Ghana Police Service with some facilities.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Joseph Owusu, Nkoranza Municipal Police Commander made the commendation, when he inspected an on-going Police station project on Thursday at Kranka, in the Nkoranza North District of the Brong-Ahafo Region.

DSP Owusu said the inspection was to enable him to see the progress of work and make some suggestions before the completion and inauguration of the project.

He noted that the residents of Dromankese, also in the District, had through a self-help initiative, built a similar project in the town.

He said the provision of Police stations in communities would pave the way for development and the opening up of businesses, since people normally operate at places where there is a permanent Police Station to ensure safety, peace and security.

Mr. Oscar Osei, Assemblyman for Kranka expressed worry about the activities of unscrupulous people and traders who come to the area with counterfeit currency notes to buy food items from farmers.

He expressed optimism that the inauguration of the Police Stations would help combat crime in the area, and that, the Kranka Police Station would manage other communities such as Sikaa, Baafi, Bono-Manso, Nipahiamoa, Asuoti, Alataline, Ayison and Hawora.

Nana Okofo Amisare VIII, chief of Kranka and also Akwamuhene of Nkoranza Traditional Area promised accommodation facilities for the Police personnel to be posted to the place after completion of the project.
