For many living in the Daffiama Bussie Issa district which has its capital as Issa in the upper West region the appointment of Fidelis Zumakpeh as the new District Chief Executive and the first to head the assembly will mean the dawn of development for the area.

The people of the area had persistently petitioned government on creating a new district for them to give impetus to promote development, however their plea all this while became a reality when the Atta –Mills led government on June 28, 2012 by an Executive Instrument (E.I) created 46 new Districts in the country.

Meanwhile the district which was carved out of the Nadowli district is undoubtedly a teething district set under the local government system to facilitate decentralization, following this it may require dint of hardwork from the assembly to build and consolidate the new district and make it independent with the structures working efficiently and effectively.

Also with nominations for the DCE position already released for the district in a latest list of new appointments compiled by the Ministry of local Government and Rural Development(MLGRD), Mr. Zumakpeh will have to gunner at least two thirds majority vote of the assembly to entrench his position as Chief Executive.

He was among five others who were considered for the position that was released by President Mahama for the four year mandate in government.

They are Lawra- Pascal Dery, Sissala East- Moses Bavia, Kaleo/ Nadowli- John Bosco Bomansan, Bole- James Jaaga and Berekum- Opoku Boakye Yiadom.
