The Sekyere Kumawu District Assembly has elected Mr Samuel Addai Agyekum as its Presiding Member after an emergency meeting held at Kumawu.

He beat Mr Akwasi Agyekumhene after two rounds of voting, polling 29 votes as against his challenger’s seven votes.

The incumbent, Mr Richard Martin Osei, did not run for the position after serving out two terms.

Mr Samuel Asiamah, the District Chief Executive, could not hide his joy at the smooth election and praised the members for the maturity and sense of unity.

He called for continued co-operation and mutual understanding to help bring development to the people.

Mr Daniel Nkrumah, the District Coordinating Director, asked members to remain focused on the job of transforming the lives of those who elected them.
