The chief of Kpassa, Nana Konja VI, has expressed concern over the sudden halt of development projects in the area, after the change of government, and has therefore appealed to the Volta Regional Minister, Mr. Joseph Amenowode, to use his good offices to ensure the continuation of the projects.
The chief alleged that immediately there was change of government, work on the drainage system at Kpassa and Damako were stopped without any reason, when the project is dear to the hearts of the people.
Nana Konja, who expressed the concern at a meeting with the Regional Minister at Kpassa in the Nkwanta -North District recently, enumerated a number of development problems confronting the people in the area.
He said another problem facing the people was the poor road network, which made it difficult for them, particularly in the rainy season, to transport their foodstuff to market centers.
Nana Konja stressed the need for the tarring of the Jasikan -Brewoanease-Nkwanta-Kpassa-Damako road, to solve the transportation difficulties inhibiting the development of the area.
Another issue raised by the Kpassa Chief, was the upgrading of the Kpassa Senior High School, which is the only secondary school in the area, to boost education.
He also appealed to the government to help provide the communities with electricity to help the people to embark on economic activities that would help improve their lives.
Responding, the Voita Regional Minister commended the chiefs and people of Kpassa for maintaining peace and order in the area over the years, and assured the chiefs that the upgrading of the Senior High School would be recommended to the appropriate quarters.
Mr. Amenowode said the government would also introduce the Youth in Agriculture Project in the Nkwanta-North District, to create jobs for the youth, and appealed to the chiefs to make land available for the project, which he stressed, had the potential of creating wealth for the youth.
