A mentally impaired man at Dakatu, a suburb of Tongo in the Talensi-Nabdam District, Shoe Panankaoh has been remanded into police custody for causing harm and killing a 6 year old girl.

He was remanded by the Bolgatanga Circuit Court, presided over by William Boampong.

It was to the surprise of the people of the community that the accused who is believed to be insane and has been in shackles for years, could come into contact wit the little girl, Happy Kpariygang and manage to crush her head with a big stone leading to her untimely death.

According to the prosecution, the deceased lived with her parents and siblings at Datoku and on that day of the incident, September 17, this year was on her way to school with her nine year old brother Tulah Kpariygang.

At about 7:00 am, while the girl and her elder brother were going on foot to school, without any provocation the accused got hold of her and hit her head several times with a big stone.

Watching helplessly as his sister was being stoned, the victims brother ran back home and informed their mother.

Upon reaching the scene, the mother saw the daughter lying in a pool of blood, dead.

The accused was then arrested and handed over to the police.

He is expected to reappear before the court on October 12 for hearing.
