Member of Christian youth Association (CYA), a Tamale-based non-governmental organisation, has organised a free medical screening exercise for the people of Galanchagu, a commuinity in the
Tolon-Kumbungu District.


With sponsorship from the Biblical Discipleship and Groth Ministry, based in Ho in the Volta Region, the young christians offered treatment for various ailments afflicting the people.

A team of health personnel, comprising medical students from the University for Develoment Studies (UDS) and medical personnel from the tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH), screened the community members to detect the various ailments they suffered from.

Those who were found to be suffering from diseases such as malaria, diarrhoea,worm infestation, stomach ailments and open wounds were given drugs.

Apart from receiving treatment for the ailments, the children were also dewormed.

The response of the community overwhelmed the organisers, who expressed delight overtheir ability to reach out to such large numbers of people.

"As christian, we have to emulate the work of Jesus Christ; it is for this reason that we undertook this initiative to demonstrate our love and support for the disadvantaged," the President of the CYA, Mr Moses Baba Debezee,stated.

he said the association sought to create a platform for Christian youth to interact and also serve society.

The CYA would continue to explore ways of helping the disadvantaged in society and putting strength in the lives of the distressed.
