Academic work at the St. Mary’s Girls Senior High School at Konogo in the Asante Akim North Municipality is under serious threat following frequent invasion of stray animals on the school’s premises during classes’ hours.
Students are often compelled to leave their classrooms to drive away the animals which normally graze on the school’s lawn.
Father Isaac Osei-Tutu, Chaplain of the school who made this known at Konongo said the situation was inimical to academic work and called for urgent steps by the municipal authorities to arrest it.
Fr. Osei-Tutu was interacting with the Assembly Member for Ahenbronum Electoral Area, Mr. Ken Opoku-Asiedu who donated assorted books to the school and Wesley High School on Friday.
He cited an instance when a cow entered a classroom while lessons were going on and described the event as appalling and unacceptable.
Fr. Osei-Tutu expressed gratitude to Mr. Opoku-Asiedu for the donation and called on other philanthropists to follow suit, saying the new school required more of such assistance.
Mr. Opoku-Asiedu promised to donate more books to the two schools in order to promote quality education in the municipality.
