(AKIM ACHIASE) BIRIM SOUTH : CDS inaugurates projects
Major General Peter Augustine Blay, Chief of Defence (CDS) has inaugurated a number of projects at the Jungle Warfare School at Akim Achiase in the Eastern Region.

Major General Peter Augustine Blay, Chief of Defence (CDS) has inaugurated a number of projects at the Jungle Warfare School at Akim Achiase in the Eastern Region.
The project consisted of a 10-unit officers and students accommodation, which was funded by the British High Commission at the cost of 30,000 pounds and the Accra-Berlin Medical Post sponsored by the German Embassy at the cost of 25,000 Euros.
The CDS was assisted by Mr Paul Quaye, Inspector-General of Police and Colonel Kunz, Defence Advisor to the German Embassy and Lt. Col. Wan Mellows, Defence Advisor to the British Embassy.
The CDS expressed the appreciation of the Ministry of Defence and the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) High Command to the various defence advisors and attaches who through diverse ways have been assisting GAF training institutions.
The Jungle Warfare School, which was officially inaugurated in November 1976, has assumed greater importance in counter insurgency and jungle warfare exercises due to the excellent terrain it offers.

Since its establishment, the school has lived up to its objectives of training officers and men of the GAF in counter insurgency and internal security operations.
