Armed robbers Monday attacked the Uniqui Petrol Filling Station at Suhum and allegedly made away with GH¢ 8,063.27 being the day’s sale of fuel.

Mr. Benjamin Owusu, Manager of the station, told the Newsmen that the armed robbers numbering about 12, mostly youths, invaded the station at about 1930 hours in four different cars.

He said the robbers wielding AK47 riffles took the sales boys and girls’ hostage, forced the main door of the office open, and took the money away.

Mr Owusu said two security guards on duty at the filling station - Jackson Atuah and Iddrisu Mohammed, were severely beaten up by the robbers when they attempted to struggle with them.

He said a distress call was made to a police patrol team, but the robbers managed to flee with their booty before the team arrived at the scene.

Meanwhile, three of the sales boys and girls, Carolina Kwakyewaa, Joyce Yeboah and Sampson Ntow who were also beaten by the robbers, were treated and discharged at the Suhum Government Hospital.

The Suhum police had confirmed the story and said the case was being investigated.
